I'm considering buying this car, you may recall that this is the 2nd GTI I've been looking at. The first one has some issues that the seller is trying to get sorted. I found this one, same price, looks to be in nice condition.
Find as much as you can wrong with it, please. I didn't see any major flaws on the exterior, but I did see that both front doors' door cards need some love, the fabric is coming off them. Also, the shifter knob needs replaced. From my previous query, I know that I need to look out for chain tensioner and water pump issues. What else? I know it's no 914, but I also know that a lot of us Porsche guys have/had many VWs as well! 2009 GTI Tornado Red 92xxx miles - Dealer's Website 2009 Tornado Red GTI Carfax - CARFAX Website CARFAX is also available as a pdf download. The problem I have with VAG cars running TSI motors, is carbon build up in the intake ports. Since there is no gasoline running through the intakes, because of direct injection, carbon builds up in the intake ports.
Then standard procedure to remove this carbon, is blasting it with walnut shell media. You don't want to know how much this costs. Greg W. |
