So, is it 50,000 or 150,000 miles? If you're currently advertising it here with 50,000 and you are well aware it's 150,000 miles, then you are purposefully deceiving our member base.
"Well the car has 150, 000 plus miles on it, and has been totally repainted with overspray. Have not put it on the rack yet, but there is a big rat hole behind the passenger seat where the rodent ate through the back pad, so not so great after all. Please do not get me wrong, I am not complaining because I am the one who bought it sight unseen, but thought at least that the miles would be correct, but just an old worn 914 this one., Will have to recondition it and sell it, no where good enough for me to keep! Such is life. Cost 1400 to get it here George Hussey President Automobile atlanta Inc." |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I usually don't get involved in other people's classifieds, but i was also made aware that George has previously told people that this car has 150k miles on the clock and is in rather poor condition. A cherry interior in a car that lived in the PNW is fairly normal. None of the heat and UV to destroy things.
I have a 30 yo Nissan with 230k and a cherry interior that spent it's first 20 years in Oregon. Body has a few random rust spots though. one owner, all service records with miles shown, almost perfect interior, bright instrument needles, neat original engine compartment, all of the usual signs and documentation more pictures coming |

The rust worm hit them hard and fast and they were put away for many years. I have a 36K car with a beautiful interior but lots of hell hole rust. |

I was the one who sourced this 914 via a neighbor who has a friend, the PO, named John suffering from ALS. I offered to help John sell the car as he is no longer able to work on it or even drive it. The car is a true barn-find. It sat in his garage in Burlington, WA for 25+ years. It was his mother's car which she owned since about 1981. The original owner was an MD in Burlington. The car was purchased from the Porsche/VW dealer in Bellingham, about 30 minutes north. AFAIK, the car never wandered far from it's original home.
When I first looked at the car my impression was that it was a 50K car. The upholstery was excellent as was the dash. The pedal rubber looked like it was original, worn a bit but not renewed, and my overall sense was that this was a moderately used 914. It came with all records and even the original window sticker. I didn't look at the service paperwork but that would tell whether or not the speedo had turned over. Compared to my 74 this car was in much better shape. The PO said the mileage is original and I have no reason to disbelieve him. After agreeing to help John sell it I placed a post on the 914 Club web site and George contacted me almost immediately wanting to buy the car. After a price was negotiated the deal was consumated and the car transported to Atlanta. I have many photos of the car in its place in John's garage and would be happy to share them so that you can evaluate this good example of a teener; PM me. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Without a response from seller I can only conclude that the accusations are true. That also means I will no longer do business with a company where the owner cannot be trusted.
It's a shame that the seller didn't respond with either an explanation, or an apology. Especially for someone so respected in the community. |

George, I’m terribly chagrinned at these developments. Since the car had been sitting for 30 years and the good condition of the upholstery and the clutch and brake pedal rubbers I figured the mileage was correct. But then, I’m a novice at the nuances of used cars. I hope there are no other surprises and that a profit can be made on your behalf. Bob
From: George Hussey [mailto:dr914@autoatlanta.com] Sent: Monday, January 21, 2019 2:52 PM To: Bob Forman Cc: Mia Dejonckheere Subject: Yellow 914 Hi Bob, just thought that I would give you some feedback on the car: You said: Looking for advice. A friend of a friend inherited this 2.0 from his mother 15 years ago and the car hasn't run since he parked it in his garage. He attempted to get it running but has suffered serious health problems and doesn't have the wherewithal to complete it. The car has 50,000 original miles. All the parts are there including a new gas tank to replace the original that was leaking. The interior is excellent. The hell-hole, while covered in dust and dirt seems solid. I don't see any rust around the usual places. The vinyl is pealing up from the lower part of the sails but that's about as bad as it gets. He has many receipts for work done on it as well as a clear title in his name. His mom was the second owner. FWIW, the original owner was an MD. The car even has the original tool kit. I would buy the car but my garage has 3 Porsches and a Lexus coupe. So the owner has asked me to figure out what a legitimate price is and, perhaps, a new owner who will do the car justice and not just try to flip it. Suggestions? Well the car has 150, 000 plus miles on it, and has been totally repainted with overspray. Have not put it on the rack yet, but there is a big rat hole behind the passenger seat where the rodent ate through the back pad, so not so great after all. I tend to believe what people say to a fault, way to gullible, even at my age. Really pathetic. Then the guy who owned the car actually acted like it was no big thing, and said that he knew that the miles were 150 and not 50.

You might want to update your Samba ad as well,...I'm sure at this point, you don't want to accidentally continue to mislead another forum.
