I have an early targa top. The original front targa pad (the one that attaches to the roof) is cracked. I bought another, nicer one but it doesn't have the concave area in the middle that goes around the little bump on the top. It also has a slightly thicker cross-section.

Has anyone ever carved out the pad to make it fit? Does the thicker cross-section matter?
