Strange rattle after some new seals, so by process of elimination theres no shroud, no fan, no alternator, shell tranny just for the starter. I've used my steth, checked valves, lifters, have oil pressure, pulled each plug wire. Any thoughts before I tear it down and rebuild? Thanks.

I do not even want to say it. You know in your hart what you need to do. 1st,Do not run it anymore or it will just cost you more. You can look at the oil and see just how much metal is in it.

Engine out. Then comes the 'while you're in there'. There should be plenty of good used engines down south.
