I'm looking for a flat tow hook that mounts over the front torsion bar end cap pickup point. The guy who makes these is a member here and I cannot remember his name. I'm trying to find his site or contact info so I can order another one. I bought one from him years ago for my 914 and need another one for a different car.
The one I'm looking for is very similar to the one in the rennline link below, except the tow hook/tie down loop is flat and extends out under the front bumper, instead of being welded to the plate that goes over the torsion bar cap at a 90 degree angle. http://www.rennline.com/Rennline-Front-Tow...roductinfo/E03/ Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone remember who makes the flat one I'm talking about? TIA |

A tow hook is different from a tow bar. If they are not currently being made. I bet Ben/MB911 could easily have some made. @MB911

I Make the tow bar , just not the hooks you are looking for sorry, Mark I have a 914rubber tow bar. I purchased it so I can get a tow home if my car gives out while i'm doing some shakedown runs. I can keep the bar mounted on the front and the trailer part in the trunk. Cheap insurance. |

We flat to to events (WCR) the wife can't stand too many hours of open road noise. Best way to go so if the car has an issue you know you can get it home easily.

I am going to make some of these. I just have to decide how to clear the valance. Should be pretty straightforward I would be in for this, I want something that would allow for not modifying the stock front valance. Saves on the weight of a trailer, I have towed with 4 wheels down with a motor home before, used a blue ox tow bar, had the mount brackets bolted to the front of a 4x4 suburban and my car too back then. if you make the brackets to bolt to the 914 rubber bar that can go under the valance I will get one for sure!. Lets do this before Okteenerfest! |

Phil - I'm not sure this makes a good tie down, if that's what you have in mind. Usually, you want to tie down to the suspension. The car body will move up and down on a trailer while the wheels and suspension will stay firm. My comment about Mikey's tow bar wasn't meant to imply this was a fitting to his product. If I'm getting this wrong, please disregard.

QUOTE How many of you flat tow guys use a brake system? (You know, like the law requires....) Ca. and Idaho only states that require brakes 1500lbs and above, others 3000lbs,some must be able to stop in a legal distance, and or have an adequate park brake |
