Figured I would share a few pics of my 5 lug swap on my 75. I used 3.5 spaced 911 struts and Boxster calipers all around using the Rebel Racing kit. Wheels are 16x6 and 16X7 fuchs with 195/55/16s on all 4. I originally had 911 wheels all the way around but the rears had a slight interference with the calipers. Rather than use spacers I switched to 951 rears and the fit is great.

Currently still has the stock master cylinder. pedal definitely has some drop but get firm. I have a 19mm I'm going to swap, but wanna give it a try first.

I had to stretch the quarters about 3/4" to fit the 7s. not the most conventional method, but it worked. I hammered the lips up and then used soft books on the wheels and jacked the wheel up into the wheelwell. Took several tries adding books and moving them front to back, but I got what I needed without scarring up the quarters.

Nice job, I want to make this conversion myself next winter. Just need to start collecting the parts. Was it a fairly simple swap over with the correct parts?

It was a piece of cake. Hardest part was removing and replacing the rear bearings with the trailing arms still on the car. They are a tight fit!

Nice job. I've never seen anyone do it with books, but I did it with a fender roller. Did you heat the paint?

Justin - nice job, the car looks great!

Just FYI: there is a subtle thing with Boxster calipers on 911 or 914-6 struts. Because the 911 strut places the caliper ahead of the wheel (and the Boxster has it behind), you end up fitting the FR caliper to the FL strut and vice versa. This works fine, but it does mean the offset piston sizes in the caliper are now reversed, with respect to rotor direction.

Why the offset piston sizes? Complicated, but the Fred Puhn braking book talks to the issue. There may be better explanations out there.

You can easily fix this by inverting the link pipe and bleeders between the two calipers, then swapping the sides. Which you really don't want to do right now, as you've just bolted them to the car and bled the brakes...!

The big question is: does this really make a difference? I have no real evidence to prove it one way or the other. I can imagine it makes a difference to pad wear long term - but do we care?

Either way, I have the same front strut / caliper set up and my car, and very happy with the results. Again, car looks much better!!

Did you have to use spacers so the wheels didn't rub on the caliper? I have the same conversion and the 7" Euromeister wheel rubbed the caliper on the inside.

The rear setup with 911 Fuchs would have needed a 1/8" spacer. The caliper was touching the rim. I switched to a 951 fuch in back and it has plenty of clearance. Same size wheel, same offset, but the spokes are pushed forward a bit and the mounting hub on the wheel is deeper to make up for it.

Now go and buy a Boxster spare tire. The stock 15 inch steel spare won't fit over the Boxster calipers.

Been there, done that.
