auto win,

must enter to win...just a shame there wasn't a few more.........

Actually it ended up good for both John & Andy, after John was bumped up into Full Concours - so both took home hardware.

Both are also yellow! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Andy won Best in Class (914) for Street Division, & John won Best in Class (914) for Full Concours with a score just 1.5 points off of perfect - which was amazing since he really hadn't prepared & detailed the underside of his car, which is also judged for our Zone 8 Full Concours.

Most other PCA Regions & Zones call our "Street Div." level as their Full Concours, but only judge exterior, interior, engine & storage - whereas our Full also judges the undercarriage in 2 parts, with & without engine halves - as is done at national CdE for Parade. That in part is why our Zone 8 folks tend to do well at Parade Concours.

So Congratz to both John & Andy: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) Andy Thonet 1970 914-6 M471 (dealer wide-body option) - Best in Class (914) for Street Division (yes, it's a "real -6", but with a bigger engine now)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) John Flynn, 1973 914-2.0 ("914s") - Best in Class (914) for Full Concours

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

EDIT - I ADDED THE LAS VEGAS CONCOURS ON 9/28/19 BELOW

Everybody -

I tried to catch all 914ers who showed their 914s as either judged or display before my judging duties started, to drop off the special 914 50th decal Thank You gift for all who came out on Saturday.

My time was limited before starting "work" - if you want to call drooling over a bunch of Bitchen Porsches "work" - so if I didn't get to shake your hand & give you the decal personally, but left one on your driver seat if you weren't around at that time before 9:45-ish when our judges meeting started our day.

If I missed you on Saturday, & you did display a 914 (e.g.: decal went missing, or you came in later), then shoot me a PM or email with your mailing address, & I'll send you one (you're all on 914-Scout's Honor" ;-).

Shawn, I think I missed you at the event - so let me know if you got one, which you deserve in any case for taking point on this 914 50th commemorative corral at the event last Saturday!

If you did display or judged at another prior Zone 8 Concours earlier in 2019, then do the same:

1. Zone 8 Awards CdE in Woodland Hills / Jan. 19,
2. Cal Inland (Santa Clarita)/ April 13,
3. Southern AZ (Tuscon area) / May 4,
4. Grand Prix (Long Beach/Lakewood area) / May 5
5. Orange County Region (Dana Point) / June 15

If you come to a later Zone 8 Concours to either display or enter a judged 914 in any of our upcoming Sept-Nov 2019 events, then I'll try to do the same gift as long as my stash lasts.

6. LA Region / Sept 15
7. San Gabriel Valley Region / Sept 22
8. Las Vegas Region / Sept 28
9. Santa Barbara Region / Oct 13
10. San Diego Region / Oct 19
11. Arizona Region (Phoenix area) / Nov 2

Sorry - but nothing no 914-50th Decal for bringing a non-914!

However, if your 914 is on jackstands, otherwise not driveable, etc. - but still want to get a 914 50th Decal, then look for member John Lush's post on them on 914world & send him an SASE per the instructions.

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=336476

Also, John Flynn has another larger 914 50Th Decal design too which is very nice, which he had one on his 914 back window on Saturday, so PM him for that one if you want to get one. I don't have a link for his decal sales, but just contact him from his member page.

Thanx to John Lush for the deal & free shipping on his decals too!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

Also - if you're interested in going for the year-end Zone 8 Concours awards, there's still time & shows to make it.

You'll need to enter either 33% (4) of the 10 11 Concours listed above including one out of state - so either AZ or Las Vegas will count for the 1 out-of-state; or enter 51% (6) of the 10 11 if all are in-state (you'd have to have entered some of the first 5 to get this);

PS - and those of you from AZ or NV Regions would need to travel to the out of state shows anyway in order to get the minimum 4 (i.e.: some combo of 1 NV &/or 1-2 AZ &/or 1-8 CA shows), & would have to get more than 1 out-of-state show, in order to make the 33% (4) shows (2-3 for AZ or 3-4+ for NV folks;

PS - There are 6 more Zone 8 Concours left for 2019, & they only count your top 4 show scores for Annual Zone 8 Awards - so there are a couple of opportunities to do test run entries, then improve your scores from there.

Plus in both cases you'll need to earn 300 service points by volunteering either as a judge (100 per event) or runner/timer/scoring/etc. (75) & other event volunteering at various Zone 8 events.

PSS - You need to be a PCA member for Zone 8 Annual Awards, so sign up if you're interested in doing that. At $46/yr for you + 1 memberships, the monthly Panorama (better than Excellence IMHO, which is more), their Regional magazine, many free & lo cost events, including AX, DE, TT, Rally, etc. For example, beyond those road & track events & annual Concours - our OCR has 1-2 events every week of every month - at least one informal meet-n-greet at an eatery for breakfast or dinner - including in 5th weeks!

So go for it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Lotsa heads turn when you fire up & great comments about your V8, & asking to have you put it into judged Special Categories SC1 at one of these events!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Yes - the directions, access & parking were all less than desireable there, & not so easy for the public to attend & enjoy seeing a bunch of nice Porsches, as were the prior venues in Fountain Valley & the other city park above Dana Harbor - & both had "real" restrooms!

It can't hurt to put feedback on the OCR website about the venue!

Big CONGRATULATION to John and Andy......What a great accomplishment for both of you. I am so envious of the dedication and hard work it takes to win your Class in Concours and Street Divisions.

I touched base with Andy today and found out that he was the Class Winner for Street Division and in a re-judge with a 930. for Overall Division. He had 239.4 points out of a possible 240.00.....that's not bad for having limited time to prep his car after 3 days of driving the wheels off at WCR!

CONGRATS JOHN (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) AND ANDY (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

Fun Day...... Congrats to the organizers!

Cheers,
Margie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)

If anyone wants to check the Zone 8 Season Concours results for any year or show or standings so far, then you can go to the link below:

https://www.zone8.org/events/results/2019/concours.php

If you want to look at other years' results &/or other event types, then use the Events tab at the top bar, pick results, pick year, then pick event (AX, TT, Concours)

Also, if you want to qualify for the year end Annual Zone 8 Awards in any type of event, then you'll need to join PCA - but many events will allow you to enter them without being a member, as was the case with our OCR Concours & a many others. However, if you do this & then later that year enter, then you'll have to work with the

You need to be a PCA member for Zone 8 Annual Awards, so sign up if you're interested in doing that.

IMHO it's a great deal if you're into Porsches, even if you never attend anything, & only get the great magazines! At $46/yr for you + 1 memberships, the monthly Panorama (better than Excellence IMHO, which is more), their Regional magazine, many free & lo cost events, including AX, DE, TT, Rally, etc.
