So will the soldering of the lead cause or change the operating resistance ?
I will replace it but I need to get it going & over memorial day WE I aint gonna find one.

Not an electrical engineer, but I think you will be safe. the range in ohms of the CHT is pretty large, like <99-3200 . so an added resistance of an ohm or two should NOT make much difference.
