Has the system &/or server hiccuped or something to clear out anyone else's saved topics & forums for email notices?
I got on the site today & went to look for a previously saved topic posting, but everything was gone & all notifications were empty. Is this a server problem, housecleaning of everyone's files, or something else? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) Also while looking around on there, I found a 914world subscriptions to help fund the site that I've never noticed before & perhaps missed a post about seeking help when too busy to go on here. I did mine, & encourage you all to go to your own "My Controls" section, go down to the bottom left of the screen's menu sidebar, at: Options - . Purchase Paid Subscriptions .... & chip in to help Sir Andy to fund the ongoing operations of this great forum. Andy has been doing effort this out-of-pocket for years himself gratis, but when chatting with him yesterday at the WCR Lunch, he mentioned his new house & working on it cutting into his 914 & AX fun. So I'm sure that he can do with all of us helping to keep this Forum up & running! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// |

Is this a server problem, housecleaning of everyone's files, or something else? @Tom_T This particular case falls under "operator error". Your email (the one you are using here on 914world) is bouncing. Meaning, your email, provider is not accepting any emails sent to you. Since you had subscribed to so many forums and threads, i was getting hammered with returned emails and error emails from your provider. So i went and cleaned out your email subscriptions to stop the flood ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

That was my first thought since it had happened before when my mailbox was full, but I checked it & has consistently then & now been at +/- 50 MB open space unused. Also, the world emails are coming through okay now, so it's not something on my spam filtering, which is always been by domain name - & 914world was never on my blocked sender list. So maybe it's something that Earthlink is doing with their internal spam filtering protocols, as there have been other known problems with legit senders not getting their emails thru. You being in IT will know more about that than me. Thanx for clarifying, & nice to meet you guys at the WCR lunch on Saturday, & put a face to the name. Cheers! I usually don't keep copies of the bounce emails, let me see if i can find one of yours to get the exact wording ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) Found it, see below (protected the innocent with xyz) Looks like you have a quota on your account which probably isn't storage related but the number of emails you can send/receive in a given time period. CODE Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. And they never mentioned it after 2+ hours on hold then talking with tech help at earthlink either! The only quotas that I know of on my Earthlink Webmail account were 250 MB storage & 10 or 20 MB per message size, & the ISP is set at 2.75 MB speed. So I'll have to call TS back again to clarify what they're doing. The only other thing could be that my account got spam bombed at that time & blocked 914world thinking it too was spam, which was what tech support said may have happened. As it is, I've got to deal with 200+ spam/etc. emails daily because I can't globally block spam on it as my biz email, & Earthlink doesn't allow me to *.xxx block the random senders from multiple offender senders who randomly change the front half of the address, & they don't get them either even with my & others reporting them! In either case, unfortunately it's out of my control what the ISP does. If this happens again, & if there is any way to just globally change all my notifications to "no email notice" without deleting, then let me know by PM to get after Earthlink. Thanx Again!
