No, it's pretty simple really.

In Germany, the production of the 914 started in 1969.

In America, the 914 was first sold as the 1970 model. There is no MY 69, it started with MY 70 ...

Which is why Larmo correctly added "in America" to his statement. The American market will have the 50 year anniversary in 2020.

Among many other things, I propose everyone on this board post a photo of themselves with their 914(s) on 9/14/20. Doesn’t mater if it’s running or not. Would be a great snapshot of what’s still out there!

I like the photo idea, but we need to get ALL of the 914s out for a 50th anniversary group drive/run/reunion.

No excuses.

"The American market will have the 50 year anniversary in 2020."

So does that mean the Euro market is celebrating this year? To me, the anniversary is next year, but like I wrote, Porsche uses a production calendar, true?

Porsche started celebrating the 914 this year, not sure if they have plans to extend this to next year.

The MY concept (Model Year) is mostly used in the US, in Germany (An Europe in general) most people go by the start of the production.

Either way, i think for the American market, it's the right thing to do to celebrate in 2020 since the first 914s sold here were MY '70 ...

Should say 50 year U.S. anniversary. That way none of the Porsche snobs that think they know it all won’t debate or explain your Porsche ignorance.

How bout we celebrate in Stuttgart, AR? It's right next to Kansas, and, well... If we shoot for September, it looks like the only conflict might be the FFA mum sale.
