Update August 18, 2019: Not sure if I should kill the below info or if it has value for others...
Sold the car, but kept the alloys, which are now available for IMMEDIATE sale. Here is the listing in the parts section... http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=340036 Meanwhile the Prelude (dropping ask to $950 till Monday, August 19th by 3:00PM) at the bottom really needs some love... ******************************************************************************** Update: I really need to sell this car right away, as I am moving. Please make any offers and I will build a list and start contacting offers in order of best to worst tonight/tomorrow. Either message me here or send email through craigslist ad. I have a 73 914 with 71,497 miles and a rough body that I had been intending to restore. I am reasonably sure it is a 1.7 with a side shift. Car is in Sunnyvale, CA and I am hoping there is someone local who would want it. craigslist ad with more info here: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/d/sunn...6922829707.html I was originally hoping for something like $2400 as someone could part it or restore it at that price and double their money, but I would take $1800 or a reasonable offer to sell it immediately. Open to advice on valuation. I am assuming an in person transaction - cash only and buyer arranges to flatbed it out of here. It was registered till January 2019, but it is on non-op now. Thanks for info mepstein! I would appreciate any advice, leads, and obviously offers to buy! I should probably mention that I have another engine with heat exchangers and a partial trans-axle, but I still have to dig them out and take pics... Also, off topic but I have an 82 Honda Prelude Type 1 if there is any crossover interest... Same as update above - I need it out of my driveway now! Hoping for $1400, but again a reasonable offer to get it out of here.. Its ad is here: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/d/sunn...6956514731.html |

I had a look at this car on Sunday. The seller, Tim, is highly motivated as he is moving.
There was too much rust in the hell hole, drivers long and sail panel/door latch area for me to be interested in taking it on as a project. It also looked like the rear trunk floor has been replaced. Otherwise, it is generally complete, with a side shift transmission. There are Mahle wheels on it, which can be negotiated in lieu of the “roller” steel wheels. The engine is indeed a 1.7L. Body damage down the left side as seen in the photos, but no visible front end damage. The spotting on the hood is not rust, it’s moss. It’s a big project, or a parts car. But as I mentioned, the seller is very motivated. Carl |
