If they can get $20-25,000 for this car, things have changed.
Headlights are misaligned. Hood doesn't fit. Front trunk is a mess with overspray on passenger hood spring. Wheel wells looks like they've been repaired. Painted roll bar trim not original. Will be interested to see what this car brings. https://www.mecum.com/lots/PA0819-379520/19...w6ADoiloZCIeov4 |

that's a rough car and we haven't even seen the interior or engine compartment;. longs and hell hole, condition of bushings bearings etc etc!
I was at Ameila island this year and 2 914/4's sold at auction , one was fairly low miles original but not perfect and sold for 69k I think and the other one was repainted and partly restored sold for $59k - it was not near as nice or had as much quality restoration of parts as I did on my car- i spoke with the Haggarty guy i met there and upped my agreed value then and there, and no argument on their side. the guy came by and looked at my car and said i could insure it for more no problem. but of course that cost more and it as agreed and guaranteed. I believe i am insured for $50k and it may well be under insured as far as replacement is concerned. So yes not so nice cars that drive and have been cleaned up somewhat will bring $20k or more in the right auction. I agree with Mark, would have preferred them to remain more nder the radar for the big dollar collectors for a while longer. I have a hard time seeing that care as even a $10k car. ** edit- ok so i looked at the posted pictures, interior isn't too bad from what we can see of it. .Its a low miles car at 25k miles so that's the best thing about it. but that looks like accident damage to me too , so how do you rate a car that's been repaired from an accident? need long pics hell hole and trunks under tire board and carpets, also floor pans etc. . Will have to watch and see. |

nothing that 25,000 would not straighten out, after the frame machine and good body man and nos parts search is over with, still probably a low mile car from the looks of the rest of it. We HOPE that it will bring 25,000, will help bring up the value of all 914s, and make other car enthusiasts take note

I liked when they were cheap to purchase/best kept secret. Agree. But what can you do?? Just hold on and be glad you have one. There was a '74 2.0, Ravenna Green, that sold for $80K+ at auction. Real low miles too. That's really impressive. This car here didn't have the attention to detail treatment. Front trunk area looks awful. |

Painted roll bar trim not original. I think painted roll bar trim is original for non-appearance package cars. At least it was for my early body color bumper ‘72 1.7. Painted roll bar trim definitely original. I remember buying one in 1972 and discovering that it was painted over chrome. Guess which was cheaper?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
