Howdy,

I went down to Second Creek Raceway in NE Denver on Saturday to watch and learn, maybe take a ride...
That changed quickly!

With the help of some loaner tires/wheels and a helmet I made it onto the track. Bear in mind, I've haven't been to any sort of car racing event since the Detroit Grand Prix in 1984!!!

During my first session I was all over the place; trying to shift, turn, hit the gas or brakes.... it was messy.

But after a few tips and following my buddy Kevin around the track in his 914 I made drastic improvements. All told, I had about 1 1/2 hours a time on the track. The car performed beautifully! I've got Kevin beat on the straights, but he's got me in the corners... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif)

If you've got a 914, and I know you do, get it out on a track!!! It will change you forever!!! While driving home on I-25 with all the damn road-raging SUV/Hummer/boneheads.... I was just kickin back, thinkin to myself.... you all don't even get it do you?! Rock N Roll folks! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif)

Here's some pics....

Cheers
Nate

PS: Thanks to all the help from this board and the 914 Colorado group. Couldn't have done it without you!

I'm thinking about the PCA event in two weeks. I have a few car chores to do before I get back on the track. Namely - brakes and puke box.

If I can get that done and my wife won't kick my butt.... then I'm in.

I'd have to check with Kevin to see if I can borrow his wheels again too.....

Another event I'm interested in is the Z Car Club event at the State Patrol track, just to try a different track....

One thing for sure.... I'm hooked on racing the track!! What a blast!

PCA has a few strings attatched, some of it is good though.

-they have alot of instruction which helps with the learning curve.
-you have to become a member
-they do a pre inspection about 10 days prior to the event.

but the good side is the instruction, and also the skilled/safe corner workers and ambulance on hand.
