I am now (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif) The handling Gods of the Blessed Corner Apexes!!!!

Still do not have it aligned yet, but I could not wait anymore!!! This bad boy is a rocket!! I took my favorite 90 degree corner down the road from me at 45 mph, I honestly did not really feel the corner at all. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif)

I did some low RPM full throttle blasts to help put combustion pressure on the rings and let them start bedding in. Never got above 4K, She does not have much oomph below 2K, but as the needle swung past 3.5K she started to rip like a two stroke. I could feel all manner of the power band kicking in and my little 1.7 starting to get its lungs filled. I cannot wait to put a quick 500 miles on it to fully break it in and then let er rip all the way to 6.5K!!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif)

After a thorough break-in I am going to take it to a chassis dyno and see just what she is capable of.

My short shifter is seriously short, with nary 3 inches from full swing front to back. I really agonized over which of the two trannies I was going to use. I finally picked the one from my derelict 2L '74 model. It shifts like a dream. It takes some push and pull on the shifter to make it go into gate, but then again I can feel the gates for the first time!!! So long tail shift, never looking back!! Oh guys I tell you, I was on verge of selling my car / project over a dozen times. Thanks to many of you, Rick, Bob, Mueller, Martinf, ScottyB, and a bunch of others I am sure I am forgetting about right now, keep building me up when I was really down about it, props to all of you!!! After 7 months and a complete teardown, and I mean ..ahem--COMPLETE TEARDOWN, I have just experienced the greatest driving sensation I have ever had!!! Just pure raw, viceral, testosterone, oh-oh-ah-ah, (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/monkeydance.gif) I can't wait to sort it all out now.

She is still a long way from finished, but over the next couple of months I will do what I can to make it so--later guys, I am going to get a beer and go outside and stare at it for awhile!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif)
