Found this on the Porsche Classic Page and just wanted to let you guys know

Porsche Classic Tool Bag; suitable for all Porsche 914 models from 1970 to 1976. Content: 5x double open-ended spanners (1x each 8x9, 10x11, 12x13, 14x15 and 17x19), 1x wheel nut wrench, 1x holding tool for V-belt pulley, 1x combination pliers, 1x ring spanner, 1x Phillips screwdriver, 1x flat-head screwdriver, 1x V-belt for 914-6, 1x spark plug wrench, 1x spark plug ratchet wrench, 1x brush, 1x feeler gauge, 1x hub cap puller, 1x towing lug, 1x cleaning cloth.

The year 2019 marks a special event in the history of the Porsche 914, because the mid-engine sports car was presented to the public exactly 50 years ago. To mark this anniversary, Porsche Classic is releasing a new tool bag for all model variants of the 914.
The exterior of the new tool bag is finished in an orange-coloured tartan fabric. This look reflects the design of the 914 seat covers. The tool bag also has an embossed Porsche Crest on the front, as was previously used on the horn button of the six-cylinder version 914/6. Like all tool bags that Porsche Classic has now reissued, the tool bag for the 914 also has a high-quality tool set. Each part has its own allocated slot.

Part Number PCG91472110

This is the tool bag that was in my factory 6. It is missing some tools and the screwdrivers are remakes from China but at under $600 the new tool bag is a deal. Real 6 tool bags cost more than $1000. Even Copy screw drivers are a few hundred.

Now the crap tool bag in the 4s is no comparison. In the real world, you should take a larger group of tools on road trips.

This new looks very pretty for a 6 conversion or a real 6 that is missing the tools and that is most of them.

Nice idea, but is a swing and a miss for me.

Price is OK, lots of tools for that cost.

How many orange plaid 914s are out there? This won't match or look right in many 914s.

No comment on that nefarious hubcap puller tool...

May be if they reissued tool kits accurate for each year they would sell like hot cakes...

we have plenty of those "classic" tool kits in stock, WAY overpriced and like a clown kit, with the script and plaid colors. Why did Porsche instead just make a factory original for the six and the four and leave it at that.

We now have a really correct kit for the four, including the cheap black plastic bad black rubber band, tow hook (very soon now) correct screwdriver and wrench breaker bar and lug socket, for the 74-76 and the correct 70-71 with the extra pliers, hubcap puller and cloth bag.

If Porsche would at least make the CORRECT clear red plastic handled screwdrivers that would be a start.

Porsche certainly wasted their time with this one

I like it...I won't be buying it, but I like it.

I think Porsche would get just as much or more static if they did an actual knock off of the original 6 and/or 4 tool kit. We'd be hearing the complaints about how the "real" kits are now devalued.

At least the way they did it with a high quality kit that in no way represents the originals the market for them (if there is a market) will not piss off the bone stock crowd.

Repops from Porsche Classics....Meh. Just like the "Original" Fuch 2.0 Center Caps in the wrong finish with made in Thailand stickers that I sent back. Not impressed.

That's not a tool kit.
It's an accessory.
Gucci ?
Plus, it's the first $572. towards a real original.

For comparison, here's a pic of my original tool set that came with my 1970/4.
The tow loop is mounted in the front trunk.

While I appreciate Porsche is finally supporting the vintage Porsche market, their pricing is off the wall.

I had to purchase 1 bolt, 1 nut and 2 washers from the dealer for a crucial suspension component and it came to $120.00!!!!!! And, that's with a PCA discount. I remember when the parts guy searched the part numbers, he would not look at me when he gave me the price. He knew what my (and others) reaction would be. I guess he was afraid I would jump over the counter!

I remember when they came out with the water cooled 911 and you could not buy individual parts for the engine or transmission, - you had to replace the entire unit! This, and other outrageous pricing practices actually created their own competition. People are simply going to find or create a more economical solution.

And Dave, they are coming out with things, overpriced as you stated, that are really not needed. They have no guidance. AND many of the parts like 7t3 mentioned are made incorrectly, besides being overpriced! (try to fit the rear roll bar chrome!)
Other parts they find in a warehouse and announce it as new vintage parts (left 72-74 door panels comes to mind, ONLY the left side they were clearly found new old stock) but really just new old stock. I think that the program is to calm down some of the major shouting by vintage owners about the unavailability of factory replacement parts

Similarly, I really like that Porsche Classic is doing this stuff - might have considered buying one even, had I not just like 2 weeks before assembled my own 911/914-6 -ish kit with various stuff I had here & bought. My 'custom' kit wasn't >$400...

I have everything original except the pliers and the long thing beside pliers that looks like a plug socket wrench in the image above, what was it for? The most critical part often missing may be the little wire hooks for removing the hubcaps. My original plastic tool wrap for my 73 is dark red.
