I'm currently running 15x7 cookie cutters with Kumho Ecsta V700 205/50's.

For my 2nd set of track wheels, I'd like to run Hoosiers and would prefer to go 16x7's instead of 15's. (This is a stock bodied car).

What are the odds I could squeeze some 215/40 Hoosiers under the car, on 16x7's? I am more worried about the fronts than the rears, as the rear fenders were significantly rolled and pulled and have a bunch of extra room with the current rubber.

The Hoosiers do not seem to be available in a 205/55R16 or 205/50 size, so my only other option looks like sticking with 205/50R15's (?)

I was hoping to have a "short" set and a "taller" set for different tracks. Obviously the 215/40R16's will still be a short tire with a big gearing impact.

I have 205/45x16 on 7" Fuchs on a stock car. The rear lips are rolled. I have no problem on the front. I relied on Tire Rack's specs for dimensions in comparing sizes.
If your rears are pulled a bit, 215's should work. I recently owned (briefly) a '70 six with 215/60x15 on 6" Fuchs with slight rub in front on a hard bump. Rear's did not rub but less than a quarter inch clearance on outside. Rear springs were real stiff. If not, it surely would have rubbed in the rear.

This probably won't help you since I have the Chalon body kit, but my track tires are Hoosier's: Front 205/45/16 on a 7" BBS wheel, Rears 245/45/16 on an 8" BBS wheel. No problem on the front, the rears just make it.

Chris:
My front set-up in bout the same as yours.
My tires rub at full lock on the A arm cross bar (I think).
I'll prolly be going to 225 X 50 X 15s up front. It ain't gonna get any better.

As to fender clearance....I got a hammer.

I didn't know there was a 205/45R16 Hoosier. That would be perfect, slightly taller than a 205/50R15 (about .20"), which is what I want. Somehow I missed it on TireRack.com, or they don't stock that size. All I saw that was close was the 215/40... I'll check again, thanks for the heads-up!

Now I just have to track down the local guy who had the cheap 16x7 fuchs. I kinda flaked on picking them up a while back...

Did a skid pad this weekend.....no pics.
100 ft radius I think.
Basicly, the car understeers, but with a big lift & back on the hammer, the back end comes out bigtime....holding it there is another problem. I managed it for bout half a turn. Screwed around with it for a while, but mostly it was just wasting perfectly good rubber.
Sumthin else to work on this winter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Talk about waking the dead, this threads almost 2 years old. I was trying to figure out why Chris was still looking for Hoosiers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
JP, who's going to get their car painted first, you or me? You don't seem to be in any more of a hurry than me. At least I've got the LAPD theme going for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Now back to your previouly scheduled thread on tires.
