After adjusting and/or replacing everything I could think of, I was not getting any differences in behavior so I dropped at Don Jackson Enterprises in Phoenix for a thorough checkup. His initial idea from driving it from the front of his shop to the back is that there may be something mechanically wrong in the engine (valves, seats, compression, rings, something along those lines). If it is really bad, I have a spare 1.8 sitting in my garage. I'll swap that in and rebuild the 1.7. If I do a rebuild of the 1.7, should I go big? New cylinders, pistons, and heads?? |
