I needed to replace the Ignition switch on my 1976 914 2.0 which turned out to be no problems and the replacement went well. While the steering wheel was off, I removed the gauges to replace some lights that were not working and repair some of the broken connectors I found. After reassembling the gauges everything seemed to work correctly and I had lights again.
But now my TAC jumps to 2K RMPs with just turning the key one place before the starting the engine. Once the engine starts the gauge is idling at 3K but the engine seems to be idling about right or sounds like its idling at 1K from a cold start. So did I damage the TAC someway with removing it or is something else going on? Any way to test the gauge? Or any recommendations on what could be going on? |
