Not quite 40 years, but was taken when I first bought the car and took it for a test drive to Monterey. Interestingly, the site in the picture is Sunset Beach. And, I drove to Monterey from Sunset Beach.

And recently at Mammoth WCR.....

Pretty sure that is Bob Zulkowski's '71 914-6. That is the Six that lit my passion for the 914-6. Bob and Troy Powell owned Metal Craft in San Leandro, CA in the early 70's. They worked on my '73 914 2.0 and my 2nd 914-6. Great guys the both of them. The guy with the dark hair and glasses on the left in the group of three is Bob I am pretty sure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Just noticed the subtle gray strip up the center of this black car…perhaps a painter's touch?

I was Bob's Crew Chief for the Trans Am series in 1980. That grey strip up the middle was an old school airbrushed pattern. Looked like it was a fancy crochet pattern if I remember correctly.

Where were the cars when you got the pics ? Was it a PCA event ?

Photos were taken at the 1978 PCA Parade at Aspen/Snowmass Colorado.

Paul

I was at that Parade with my silver '71 which I've had since new- was looking for it in those pix! And my dad had his '71 bahia red 914 there as well. We both drove over from Iowa.

Worst part of that day was that the Pitkin County road crew decided to put fresh tar on the road up to the concours early that morning!!

914 looks about the same, i don't. i'm rusty and i'm sure i must have deserved a hell hole - at least.

p#ssweak but compared to these since new blokes, only 32 years. sorry for crashing the die hard party. profound apologies. if i was born in america i would be competing.

1978 and still belonged to my brother, my nephew that now has his own grown son. It was mine in four more years. Talk about your bone stock basic model. I still love it

From the past...wish I had kept them all...

My first - a 1973 1.7L in 1978, my second a 74 2.0L in 2001 (with Carl Cilkers /6 and is that SirAndys car?) and the same 74 2.0L as a Grasshopper LE tribute, 2005

je ne sais quoi (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I always thought the Grasshopper paint scheme was cool. Its a shame they were not "real." I've always kinda wondered how that got started.

Originally purchased new at DTLA Porsche + Audi from salesman Herr Heinz Brinkmann, in 1974.
Only options were; Anza exhaust, Coco mats, AM/for radio, and lowered front ride height (torsion bars adjusted). Picture from 2002.

Hello,

this is Bob Zulkowski's car. It is still alive.
It is in Germany now.
Found an old registration card with his name on it.
