I think people come out of the gate way too high and it prolongs the process. You started at a realistic number. Too True I just thought it would be a little more; I tried to buy it when it was in Canada, but to get it into Calif ...?... even though it was a 72, but I have since acquired my dream car Bill Good luck with the sale and like I said if it falls thru I possibly have some one who would take good care of it! At this point the sale appears to be going through. However, the buyer is nervous from having been scammed previously. He's being extra cautious because he's new to the forum and is concerned the car doesn't exist. I think it's somewhat amusing because as many people who know me and/or have seen this car this it isn't like a random car on a craigslist ad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) But, I do understand his fears. He seems like a good guy but he may get cold feet. If he does, I'll let everyone know. Although, I'll probably just go straight to BaT if that happens. Thank you for your continued interest. I hope it works out for you, but I know how that goes. Tell him to fly out, drive it home! he can wire your funds immediately and off he goes with a car and a title. As you know Bill I had a weird experience on my last purchase, the guy was afraid of me scamming him, when I was sitting in his house wiring funds, offering to take the car and a bill of sale and wait for my title due to their being a small loan payoff- I was the one will all the risk! people are funny. it all worked out fine, so if he is reading this I would say, you better grab this car while you can because this is a screaming deal and I am about ready to take some funds out of my home equity to grab it if you don't complete this deal! but seriously Bill is a stand up guy and I have actually purchased a project car from him in the past and seen his extensive hoard of cars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) . don't worry you will be fine! I'm a late player, wife said no more 914's, but. I'd sale my 74 Marathon Blue and buy your car in a heartbeat. Let me know if deal falls through. Oscar I always have space at my house for another 14. It could be your east coast car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Car is sold. Thank you for your interest! Thank goodness. It was a decent car when you got it, and you made it even better. Don't know how much longer I could have held off! It still needs some “elbow grease” and some cosmetic attention here and there. But, the car runs nice, electrically is in good shape (even the reverse lights work) and with the new Dr. Evil transmission shifts properly. The new owner can drive this car anywhere they want while deciding if they want to take it to the next level. |

Good morning Guys, I'm the lucky recipient of Bills car. I'm new to the forum, but have dabbled in the Porsche space on and off throughout my life. I have owned 911s/912s and 914s. Unfortunately in my younger years we didn't have forums for Porsche enthusiast to exchange info. and experiences. The Recycler newspaper (maybe only a west coast thing)was the only source of purchasing any used vehicles. Lucky for me, my Dad was a Porsche mechanic his entire life and taught me the right end of a wrench. Bill is a great guy and was extremely patient with me during this purchase and my caution approach to buying a long distance car over the webb. Unfortunately the scum of the earth also troll websites and I fell victim to such scum about 6 mths ago and lost a significant amount of money. I couldn't be happier with my new purchase and look forward to the delivery of the car early next week.

Awesome Buy!
BTW why are you west coast guys stealing our east coast cars??? It's hard enough finding a clean one on the east coast. This one and JoeProper's both went to Cali. I thought they had an over abundance of rust free perfect drivers. What say you Oscar? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
