@Lof8 Here you go. A chunk of aluminum that was shaped to fit between the Renegade mount and the extensions that bolt to the 914 trans mount.
Let me know if you'd be interested in them. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() |

It's good to see this thread revived. I am using an LS4/G86.20 but making my own adapter.

@tygaboy that is nice solution that I hadn’t even considered yet! Did you run the car with these? Are you not using them anymore, or are you offering to make a 2nd set? I think my current plan is to build a secondary bracket that attaches to the rear of the trans and wraps around to mate with the Renegade chassis mounting ears. I’ll fab new chassis attachment points on the secondary bracket where I need them to be located. My concern is the changed location/angle of the renegade axles.
Edit: I just got this response from the Renegade team: I believe you will find the position of the Boxster S transaxle in the 914 when using our LS V8 conversion kit rear transmission bracket, positions the transaxle rearward of the center line of the rear hubs. So, in theory, moving the transaxle forward with some slight mods to our bracket, would be possible and likely advantageous to your project. Go for it! |

Go for it! @Lof8 - Yes, I ran these in my car for a few thousand miles. No problems. The reason I put them in / moved my drive train forward was specifically to reduce the axle angle. With the LS engine, I had to move the fire wall, too. But that's another story. I'm no longer using them (and would sell them) because I removed the factory trans mount and made up a different mount. I also customized the main component of the Renegade mount to work with the new location. I'll assume you've measured everything but just be sure you have room at the top of the firewall to clear everything. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() |

@tygaboy Your spacers could be exactly what I need, pending some measurements I'm waiting on from a buddy who has done the k24 swap into his 914 already (but he's using the stock transmission).
If it turns out the spacers will work for me, what price would you be looking for? Its possible I may be needing a 2.5" spacer instead. Are these something that you fabbed yourself? Would you be willing to make a 2.5" set? And, that engine bay is art!! |

Hey 6-speeders, anyone have photos of how they penetrated the firewall for the shifter cables? Thanks!

Hey 6-speeders, anyone have photos of how they penetrated the firewall for the shifter cables? Thanks! @Lof8 - Check out the Renegade Hybrids YouTube videos. They do a review of their install and I believe there are pics of the shifter cable routing. Pretty sure it's through exising holes in the firewall. I did a completely different thing because I'd built a custom firewall and wanted to feature the shifter and cables. I don't know what clearances your engine provides but maybe you could do something similar. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

@Lof8 - I did a completely different thing because I'd built a custom firewall and wanted to feature the shifter and cables. You did the most beautiful "steam punk/Terminator" shifter imaginable! It really should be covered as stuff could get into the mechanism during high G maneuvering. I'm going to do the EXACT same thing. Maybe not the firewall portion but the shifter is going to be carbon copy! No freaking cover for me either! It is one of the "focal" points in the car. Ninja approved! Life's been good to me so far..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group: Admin Posts: 16,423 Joined: 11-September 03 From: Hurst, TX. Member No.: 1,143 Region Association: NineFourteenerVille ![]() ![]() |
I ran one of mine through the speedo cable hole, and the other through the shifter rod hole. I had to cut a hole in the top of the tunnel for them to come up, and get to the shifter.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-1143-1604790470.jpg) It is a Boxster shifter installed on an aluminum adapter plate. It has a short shifter kit with a 914 shift rod welded onto it. Still nice and tight shifting. Now I can't put in the deposit box because of the cable run. So I made up a wooden spacer with a notch to clear the cables. I fixed the hinge and got everything installed. |

It's good to see this thread revived. I am using an LS4/G86.20 but making my own adapter. I second you on this thread being resurrected and very happy to read all the great experience on it. I have 74 roller I just bought for roll cage and deleting unneeded panels replaced by cage, for an Ls with g86-20. With that said. Thank you guys, and now I just gotta find the genie Ls and transaxle , my game is searching til I hit a lottery buy, as I’m not allowed to start work on this car until I finish my shop and floors on my house! |
