Some time in the past, my car had been wrecked. Left front fender is pre-75.
I bought some of the awesome LED headlights from the Okteenerfest guys. One fits, one does not. the Driver's side: I believe a PO used an older version of Headlight parts. The pivot bar has a bracket welded to it that I assume works with the large bolt to keep the headlight from fully leaning back. Anyway I need a new style headlight pivot assembly. Pictures on the way. NUMBER 2 here This one DOES NOT allow the light to fit. This is the one i need for the drivers side. See? No weldment. Again, I assume it is OEM on this car.... a 75. |

So is this u-shaped piece supposed to hit the big headed bolt? Is that part of the height of the beam adjustment?
I am thinking NO. I set it so the bulb would not hit the bolt. But i could hear the head light motor straining so I move the head back out. |

Thread on this. looks like you need a late housing. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=338694&hl= I noticed a difference during my rebuild. But figured it would never matter. Today it mattered. But hell, that 1 new led head light is so bright maybe i will leave the crappy one on the drivers side. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

Thanks KevinW. Part arrived. I have cleaned it up, rust proofed it, primed it and painted it. I decided to give it and the headlight bucket, at least the top edges that can be seen with the headlight DOWN, a coat of black paint.
5 years ago I had painted the buckets and the assemblies with POR silver and surprisingly you can really see the color change thru the gaps. So maybe black will reduce that visual. I'll add some pix when the paint dries and I re-assemble everything. Really looking forward to having these LED headlights from https://vintagecarleds.com/ |

The factory was grey, maybe because it changes less?
