Bob
beautiful work. I use your post for direction all the time and now i'm confused as I see something and can't get back to it. .Doesn't take much. Oil temp. While looking for something else , I thought i saw you make a t fitting for the pressure and temp senders both on top of the motor. But now there's that one on the taco plate. What's up?

Kevin

Hi, Kevin. The T-fitting that I tried earlier this year was only for oil pressure. I did that so I could keep the stock idiot light pressure sender and the VDO sender for my added pressure gauge. I gave up on the T for now since I could not get that to seal.

The temp sender is the stock one in the taco plate.

As many people have pointed out, the temp reading from the sump takes a long time to warm up.

The La Plata Mountains, west of Durango, CO. Peaks are 12 and 13 thousand feet.

Just a follow up. On Saturday, I went to our local C&C, which keeps growing in numbers and variety, but always has some 914 action.

Even better, on the morning after not one drop of oil underneath.

I am now officially declaring victory! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

But just for this battle. I expect someday to lose the war. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yes--for sure in 2024!

Now to get a few more things done on my 914 before it snows.

Shar and I are renting an RV and flat towing the 914 to Moab and Durango the third week of October. I'll let you and Mike know when we nail down a date.

OK, after neglecting my 914 I finally need to get busy before driving season opens. Step 1: update the task list.

Here's the roll bar pad, which I think is original to the car. Not terribly bad, and with uncertainty about replacements a couple of years ago, I decided to reinstall it.

The worst bit is the cracked center. I was able to glue these and they looked better then. But they have been bugging me.

Last year I bought a 914 Rubber reproduction, and let it sit in a corner.

If I had know they put a 2024 calendar in the box, I would have opened it sooner. Especially since I had a 2023 calendar hanging here for 3 months.

Time to take out the old pad, starting with the side pads (and that means unbolting the shoulder belt mount).
