The challenge now is bolt length, with the nut fully engaged. I have about 120 mm to work with.

The trailing arm bolt tube is about 61 mm.

And the strut base is about 51 mm. That leaves me 8 mm.

The full stack of shock bottom washers, flat washer, lock washer, and new tie down is about 16 mm--way too much!

In the end, I used only the lock washer. With anything else, the threads on the nut were only partially engaged.

Then pop the sway bar link back on with a clamp.

Then time for the front tie downs. I got these from Tangerine. Nicely made with new bolts included.

These require removal of the two side bolts on the front A-arm mounts. The 3rd bolt in front (under the shield) keeps the mount in place.

New vs original bolts. Both are 8.8.

Tie down installed. This cool updated design has a magnet to keep the ring from dangling when not in use.

I am going to use editorial privilege here, and add in my Aluma trailer. I got this specifically to tow my 914 to events and other distant locations. My wonderful, wonderful wife wants to join in, but has declared she will not spend multiple hours in the right seat, just to get somewhere.

To make loading easier (including on my marriage) I added a 3500 lb winch. I installed this using a 5/8 inch thick aluminum plate. The winch bolts to the plate, and the plate is held to the main trailer member with some big square-end U-bolts.

My remaining task is the power system. I already have the relay and connections in a waterproof box. Now to mount this on the trailer.

For now, I am using 3M industrial strength adhesive tape, with double tape layers to account for the nubs on the bottom of the box.

Here's my setup version 1.0, with a stand-alone battery. The battery cables are very heavy gauge, with a big quick-connect.
