Hello,
Recently realized that I haven't been pouring enough money into my 914. Currently have a iron 355 SBC mated to a 04 Boxster s 6 speed. Had the trans in for about a year now and should had went with the LS back then. So now trying to figure what parts I need to collect and what I can sell. Trying to stay away from Renegade's overpriced parts. Hopefully some of you guys can chime in. Will get the adapter kit & clutch from Kennedy. Cooling log from Toy-Jet. Believe I can use my motor mount bar if I use the LS-SBC adapter plates. Will need to use a different electric water pump. Still working to locate a good engine choice. As the LS1, LS2, & LS3 motors are so hard to find affordably I am looking at an LQ4 or LQ6 to build as they are more reasonably priced. May decide to use my current Fast efi throttle body along with the MSD controller. Just hate to remove good working systems but may toss anyway. Any thoughts suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks David |

Personally, I would look for a L76. Alum block 6.0 makes lots of hp found in trucks.
I'm sure there are others that are alum block, but this one I know about. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/05/10/l...ze-performance/ You are 1/2 way there with the Boxster S 6 speed. |

You will need to disable VATS anyway if you're using a stock computer. This guy has a real good handle on the process. This is using HPTuners. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtBPWIXCBQA I'll be following to see how the connection LS to BoxsterS goes. I finally have my 4 speed working well, but it's a pretty wide gap. |

The L33 5.3 liter is also aluminum block... found in quad cab chevy/gmc pickups. It's not the classic 350, but has more than enough HP and has a higher red line. Could be fun!

Yeah, a 5.3 would be plenty even in stock trim. Plus it takes mods really well. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/04/26/l...ze-performance/ |

I found an aluminum 5.3 ls1 out of a 4wd Trailblazer and also got an LS6 intake and LS1 oil pan plus some high flow injectors from the same guy. I am also switching to drive by wire TB. Sent all the specs with the proper brain and had it reprogrammed.
Really wish I could swing the dollars for the Boxster trans. |

Fast EFI, Big cam ect. Runs good but just want a more modern engine. An LS2 is a lot less weight with modern FI ect. I guess I really just want a change? David |

Hey there! I just got a Boxster 6 speed in great shape and no issues for $750 last week. 2 days ago I got a rebuilt LS1 with ECM, beautiful looking wiring harness and pedal harness and drive by wire assembly for $3200. If you keep watch some good deals pop up. Got it on Craigslist and ironically it was 5 miles from my mechanic so we go to check it out. I called Kennedy about their package and if you are going to get the LS kit from Renegade it appears that renegades Boxster kit had more and for less money when you buy the two. I will be curious to see what you source for your project. It is big money for those kits for sure. |

These Guys make a nice adapter set up. The flywheel is aluminum with a removable steel face. A little less $$$ than the kennedy setup. |

You can get a stock Boxster S part# 134-05438261 clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing from parts geek for $250. I'll bet this would work ok with a mild LS |
