3.0 with big port heads. Complete with induction and exhaust. Well maintained and runs fantastic. Engine had a top end in its recent past. $10,995.
Engine was just recently pulled from a running car. compression, leakdown and head studs are all great, numbers were checked a year ago. Car is getting a built 3.6 engine so owner wants to sell. Engine is located in Parksberg PA and can be picked up or I can pallet and forklift onto a truck. Buyer is responsible to set up shipping. Email - mark@markepstein.net to purchase.

I can take any size core engine in need of a rebuild for partial credit.

The compressor and leakdown numbers are almost perfect. Many people buy core engines and are derailed by the $10-20k rebuild cost. A mag case can easily take $3k in machining to get it right. $1.5k to rebuild heads and $4-5k if you need new P&C’s. $1k for cams, $2-3k for all the bearings, head studs and seals, $2k to rebuild the rods and fuel injection. It adds up quickly!

Even at a generous 5k miles a year of 914 mileage, this could be a 20+ year engine before it needs work.

^^^^^^
All true, almost like he knows what he’s doing. Grin.

My 2.7 rebuild was totaling out to be close to $15k and that was not a crazy spec.

@crash914

Indeed you should buy that. A lot easier and more sensible than trying to get 200 HP out of a Type 4. It will prove to be a lot more reliable.

Unless you're seriously addicted to the Type 4 engine or have to have a Type 4 engine to stay in a particular racing class, a 3.0L six will give you reliable power and get you out of the loop of trying to stretch (or overstretch) a Type 4 out to 2.6L and beyond limitations.

Mark is about spot on with his estimates. I currently have a 2.4L Mag case out to Ollies and it will be over $3k for the machining by the time I get it back.
