Anyone run the classic Pirelli CN-36 tire on any car? I'm looking for specific feedback on this tire.

Here’s a good comparison article..... https://www.cinturato.net/images/test-classic-tyres-0716.pdf Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Here’s a good comparison article..... https://www.cinturato.net/images/test-classic-tyres-0716.pdf That is a fine-looking 914 2.0, Jeff. Beautiful. I have yet to see CN36s on a 914. Know of a few with Avon CR6ZZ, Michelin XWX, and Vred Sprint Classics, but no CN36s so far. Hear the new ones are quite good, with modern compounds + perfect period looks. But I am dreaming of new A-008Rs or AVS Intermediates. There are not a lot of great choices for 15s that look right on a 914 and offer great performance like some of the late 1980s-2000s tires did—just one modern summer tire in 185/70, 195/65, and 215/60, and that's the Pirelli P6000...and I wonder if the CN36 will kill it off. 205/60 is a wasteland, as is 205/55. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I've always wondered about the BFG Radial T/A in 205/60, but can't seem to find much in the way of feedback from the few who have tried them on a Porsche. I figure they have to be better than the OE tires for the 914, but… |

I ran CN-36's on my 70 1.7 with glass flares front and rear. Started with 205's on front and 225"s on the rear. I really liked them. Lots of feedback when in a corner. I had one corner in Long Beach coming off Long Beach Blvd, A 270 degree corner back onto Long Beach freeway to Naval shipyard that I usually took at 65 mph. Any faster and the front end started pushing pretty bad and I needed to slowly back off a little. The fronts were worn so I replaced them with 215's and the push went away and I could get up to 70+ in the same corner. Like on tracks! That car with only 80 HP was the most fun to drive car I ever owned. I'll see if I can find a decent pic. I took digital pictures of my old hard pictures, so some distortion is evident. There was nothing wrong with the front end, although it sure looks funny. Back then ( about 75 ), I paid about $100.00 each for blems. CN-36's.
Wish I never sold that one! Tom Attached thumbnail(s) |

I should have bought some CN36s when they first came out, it seems like the price has doubled since then.
I'll look into the Vredestein Sprint Classics, thanks for the recommendation Cal! |

I had CN-36s on my car in about 1979. The rears were 180mm. Odd size but wide at the time.

I’m running them on my 75 Carrera and so far really really like them. They stick far better than I thought they would.

My 73 Mercury Capri had them in 1975. I thought they were cool but never pushed the limit.
