Well, my son and I need to learn to communicate better....when he told me the car "wouldn't start" after we did fuel lines, etc, my thought was it was probably fuel related. Turns out what he meant was when you turn the key-nothing.....starter does not engage. Crawled under the car and jumped it, and with a bit of ether it started right up and settled down nicely after a couple minutes.

So in searching, I see that there are lots of posts about bad ignition switches, and I found one wiring diagram that indicated a "seat belt interlock". Somehow, something has happened over the last couple weeks, and some interior disassembly, to have the ignition switch not activate the starter.

Is there an interlock that would interfere with starting the car? How do I jump around it?

Or is this all symptomatic of a sudden unexplainable failure of the ignition switch?

Any sources for a good wiring diagram for a '74 2.0?

Thanks in advance-

Rob
