Thanks everyone. I'll be glad to share dimensions. But realize that it would be near impossible to duplicate exactly this without a known good body to connect to the mounts. There are some documents that I used on 914world that show factory measurements. I'll do some research on my notes and see what makes sense to post up. (I have TONS of measurements...) |

Totally get the variability and I've looked at the 914 underbody dimensions but they are less than stellar and had no Z height dimensions other than what is inferred by diagonal mesurements. Would love any opportunity to double check against what my body and dimensions are on a flat Jeff Hail Style cart with some simple fixtures I made to pick up the rear trans mounts, and the Z height of the suspension console. Haven't placed the inner suspension console yet but again would love any sort of double check. |

Actually one of my next videos will be on measuring, so I'll go into more details then, but here are a couple of quick ones.
The length of the runners are 13' they are 3"x3"x1/4". The cross bars are the same material and 3' each. I thought I might have to do 3 legs on each side to keep it from flexing, but it's solid as can be. I didn't even put the bracing between the rolling leg and fixed leg because it was so solid. You'll see me doing some pulling while on the jig in later videos. My initial thought was to do the suspension mounting points and the front and rear bumper mounts. But my bumper mounts were different from 74 to 75. So I went with suspension mounts, engine mount (which you saw in the video was a fail) and also the rear trans mounts. I had a wild thought that i was going to cutoff the 1.5' overhang and then I would have a nice 10' metal bench, However, I don't have room for a 10' x 42" bench. So at some point I'll be getting rid of it or cutting it up for future projects maybe a smaller bench.. Right now it's sitting in the elements gathering snow. Here's a measurements teaser. You'll see I went overboard, this is just the top side. |
