The car is all steel 914/6 with the excepton of lids and bumpers. It has a substantial cage. I just ordered a lightweight battery ...around 4lbs and will ditch the optima red top. Including the battery tray I estimate this will get me 34lbs. I also ordered a lightweight starter I think this gets me 10lbs.

That leaves me 70lbs. I've thought about fiberglass doors...maybe.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

What's the config of the car? My ITB-spec chassis comes in at 1874# empty of fuel, no driver. That's pretty much a stock body with rollcage and gutted doors, Panasport 15x7s and 205 Hoosier R7s.

Pretty much like stated. All steel including flares, robust cage, reinforced chassis etc., gutted doors, headlights and motors removed, rear window is plastic, steering column stripped, dash stripped, aluminium case 2.5 twin plug with 915/wevo gearbox, 15x8/9 fuchs. enduro fuel cell... etc.

The aluminum case 6 and the 915 account for around 150 lbs compared to a 4 cyl car. Sounds like between what you're already doing and with mepstein's list, there are some good areas to drop some weight.

I would argue the motor is 150 alone
the 915 even more on top of that

(I rebuilt my race aluminum case into a mag race motor to save another 20lbs)

to the OP:

sounds like your giving up some weight with the heavy duty running gear

do you run vented rotors on the back?
heavy CV joints for the 915 (along with heavier stubs)?
the flares and larger wheels are a challenge also...

I'm about 1826#/ wet (no driver), right now with the same fiberglass panels as you and a 2.0/6 (similar motor weight/ maybe 20lbs difference for the mag case)

read my build thread.
there are more things you can do
they take time, and some cost... but there are things

the Jeff Beck 2.5/6 was rumored to be down to 1600 lbs (more fiberglass though)
and also rumored to be 296 on the dyno
imagine that power to weight ratio!

is the 915 legal with CVAR?
maybe FIA rules?

Yes, legal. I do run FIA. HSR allows the 915 box as well for a GT Spec car in gp3 and gp 5. That Jeff Beck... He can play guitar and drive like a mad man (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I have to run in the big bore group even if I have a 2.0 litre with CVAR. The flares alone take me out of c production. I could probably argue my way into b production with a 2.0 but doubtul it would be competitive unless it was a very short fuse motor.

I'm hoping to take off around 100 lbs, I think the first 50 will be pretty easy. I believe minimum weight is 2020lbs.
