Setting timing today, and have used the angle iron bar on the rear wheel to hold that side while I rotated the other wheel. But occasionally if you have to back up a few degrees the bar would lift off the ground. This time I zip-tied a dumbbell to the bar and it held it in place easily.
And rather than bending over the fender with a mirror, harder when up on the lift. I used this wifi Endoscope with a magnetic tool mount. It was REALLY easy to watch on the phone and rotate the engine until the 0 was lined up with the notch. This was the view from the endoscope. It has a built in adjustable light. I may have to try this again next time I set the ignition timing. then I would just have to shine the timing light into the hole and watch on the phone. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) It comes in handy in other ways like feeding down the tunnel to make sure the clutch/throttle cables are not crossed. |
