I bought a dome light from a local VW source part number
111 947 111E. (Empi)

I believe that's the same part number from other
Porsche sources. My backpack is out and dimensionally
the light is too long.

Does anyone know of a source for a dome
light that fits or do I have to modify the backpad
tabs?

Thanks for the suggestion 914Sixer.

Just wondering if you or anyone else has used this exact light without fitment issues.

I bought whatever 914Rubber sells and at first I thought it was too long and I would need to modify the metal tabs in the backpad to make it fit. However, after fiddling with it a bit, I discovered it does, indeed, snap right in. It is a tight fit, but I think that's good. The trick for me was to not try to push it in evenly but tilt it in to hook one of the spring clips on a backpad tab and then press the other side in until it snaps in. Your mileage may vary.

I pulled this out of one of my parts cars. I'm not much help with info related to any of the stock parts so I don't know if this would work for you but your welcome to it.

Free plus shipping costs from 94952.
PM me if you can use it.

Chris
