74, 2.0

I recently saw an ad for a pretty sweet 914 on the Bev-Hills (which is in East LA) site and I noticed an exhaust heat shield on BOTH sides, in the picture the one circled is what I am addressing.

I have never seen this on the Starboard side of the car, should I get one? Is it necessary?

I am interested because when one of my exhaust studs fell out the leak removed the plastic coating from the Clutch and Speedo Line.

Yes, there's a left and a right. Helps with correct air flow. I believe AA has reproductions.
