I haven't corroborated this story, but it would be interesting if there was in fact a Porsche Thing!

There is a Porsche thing. It was produced way before the thing and is called Jagdwagen.

April Fool! The guy said it had special Porsche gauges in the dash. The quick shot of the dash in the video looks like it has aftermarket Stewart Warner gauges, not German VDO gauges. I think someone just put a Type 4 motor in a Thing and added a Porsche side stripe kit.

Type 597, way before the Thing, and I would love to own one.

I would also like a Thing, but 597 would be my preferred ride.

The one posted here, is no such animal.

I love the 597 but then again I also love the B32. Surprises me that with all the aftermarket 356, speedster, 550, 718, 904... that nobody has bothered with either rare Porsche. Hell there's people making type 64's & 917's but no 597's. As for a drivetrain I'd base it on a Syncro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I loved the schwimmwagen. There was one getting restored when I was a teenager in Stockton. I thought it would be so cool to cruise the avenue and then take my date out on the delta. Childish dreams!!
