Looking for a buyer for a 1973 914 2.0. It's Alaska Blue Metallic with the "appearance package" and has original 2.0 Fuchs and chrome bumpers. It’s pretty original and in survivor condition. I bought it about 4 years ago from an elderly gentleman whose girlfriend was the original owner. I have original service records from 1973-85. No reason to think it isn't a numbers matching car, but I don't have a COA. I had plans to gradually restore the car given the lack of any rust (hell hole is clean, longitudinals, floor pan, etc.). Unfortunately, I'm not mechanically inclined, so everything has been done as an expense. I have receipts for almost $11k over the last 3 years...major mechanical has been done (engine rebuild with sport cam shaft, pistons, brakes, master cylinder, etc.). The car is in running condition, but not without flaws. Paint is not original in several areas and very distressed and rubber bits are aged...interior is pretty clean. Dash has minimal cracking and seats are in pretty good shape...small hole in Drivers side. I have been back and forth on keeping or selling, as these have obviously appreciated over the years. It could probably be a #2 car which would push it’s value to $40k, but would require much more time/investment. Car is going up on Bringatrailer next week. Let me know if you would like to learn more about it. Looking for $16,500.

Update - the engine number matches the maintenance record log book, and has the D jetronic fuel injection system. Assume transmission to be original.

How many miles on the car? How many miles since engine and brake rebuild?
What are the areas of "white" on the paint? Has the suspension been upgraded? |

True miles are unknown as the odometer stopped working. The last odometer reading I have on service records was from March 14, 1985 and was 133,288. Less than 100 miles driven since the engine and brake rebuild. I’m not sure what the white spray is...came that way to me.
Video of the car in the garage. I’ll try to get one on the open road today. https://youtu.be/q0x0VxgIKxE How many miles on the car? How many miles since engine and brake rebuild? What are the areas of "white" on the paint? Has the suspension been upgraded? |

Good luck on selling your car but your valuations are off, you would need to put 30k plus of work in it to get a 40k valuation. Take the first 14k offer and be happy.

Still working with BAT on the reserve. Entertaining offers to sell outside the auction until it goes live.

Congratulations. Did it go to a member here? Will it remain in the USA? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yes. Staying in the 914World community...headed out East. Not comfortable sharing the sale price, but got more than the BAT reserve.
Got my money back from BAT, so thanks to the forum ad space! Enjoy the 914s in good health and maybe I’ll get back into one down the road. |

Whenever someone tells me a classic car is absolutely perfect, I get suspicious. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Nope, couldn't. All those old posts about needing multiple 914s, I thought were just jokes. Didn't realize those were such dire warnings. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Yeah, it wasn't too long ago. But, my wife kept laughing at me staring forlornly at the empty spot in the garage, and finally said why not get another? So, I did. |
