Hey Guys,

There's a car on Ebay which is listed as "1974 Porsche 914 LE"...but, per Jeff Bowlsby's registry, it's a tribute car.

The word "tribute" only appears once in the ad...with regard to the paint...as “Creamsicle Tribute” finish of Ivory with Orange accents.

The auction has 50 watchers. I hope that someone looking to buy an LE would also be familiar with the registry, but just in case not, I figured I'd post.

Here's the ebay link...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Porsche-914-L...-kAAOSwjMtet0Zf

There was a thread on this car a month ago. When you look close, it’s sort of a hack job.

And it is apparently on purpose (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
I messaged the seller asking him to at the very least add Tribute in the title since the ad is very misleading. No response (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

You just have to hope that anyone looking at that car does their homework and asks for a COA to prove up the car's production info. He does mention "tribute" as related to color but the ad really is misrepresenting of the car. Sellers who do that are the worst. Just be honest and say it is a LE Tribute in the title. Additionally, it does look like a shade tree build.

I feel like that would make a lot more difference to me as a potential buyer than whether or not it's a real Creamsicle.

I reported the item, MANY people would not know the difference between this one and a real one. There is no area for detailed explanations of the report.

Just above the description section, to the upper right, is a REPORT ITEM link.
Then drop down choices for:
Report Category - Listing practices <<<suggested selection
Reason for Report - Vehicle Misrepresentation <<<suggested selection
Detailed Reason - Vehicle Misrepresentation <<<suggested selection

The Detailed Reason doesn't specifically fit ebay's given definition of "The listing misrepresents the vehicle's title or vehicle identification number (VIN), or it doesn't include a VIN" but perhaps if enough of us report this listing, it will get pulled or edited (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
