Are the front shift rods the same diameter for side and tail shift transmissions?
My car is a '71 that was converted to a side shift transmission. I bought the Rix conversion shift bushing from 914 rubber but I can not get it to stay on place when I push the front shift rod through the firewall. It pushes the bushing out. The shift rod diameter where it passes through the firewall is .92 inches, 23.39 mm. What bushing do I need for that size front shift rod? |

For the early cars running the late shifter/trans you would need a special sized bushing at the firewall. It needs to be the early o/d size to fit into the metal section but the later i/d to fit the late tunnel shift rod. A few different places make them. You need to make sure when ordering that you get the early with late trans conv bushing.
CFR sells this one : http://www.tangerineracing.com/transmission.htm I installed one in my brothers 914 and it was pretty easy to do. Here's another. https://sierramadrecollection.com/914-914-6...-72-p32161.html 914 Rubber : https://900designs-container.zoeysite.com/r...shift-bushing-1 Check the part #'s as they are different between the rix brand. |
