Thanks for response Sharon. I think we're going to go straight into Durango. Keith and I are staying at the Casa Blanca casino/motel in Mesquite, NV Wednesday nite then meeting with John Thursday morning before driving up to Montrose. The drive on Friday from Montrose to El Dorado is via the Million Dollar Hi Way. I hope you don't miss out on that trip. The view is stunning to say the least. I cannot get a room in Durango. I am planning on attending and was able to get a reservation at the Red Arrow Inn & Suites in Montrose. Durango Downtown Inn is booked all the way into December. The gal on the phone said the dorms are closed so the college students are renting motel rooms. Sounds insane for the college students. Thats all I know. I could maybe tent it. Don't worry about it. Surely one of the college girls will split the rent with ya for 2 nites. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Stop over in Duluth and bring Rick with ya. [/quote] That would be great if Rick could make it and I have asked. The only possibility that I can see would work would be to clone him so he could work on his house and get his car ready also. Maybe? |

So I actually double booked (found a slightly better rate) and then never canceled my original reservation so at the moment I have 2 rooms reserved at the Durango. It was on my to-do list to call and cancel one of them tomorrow. If anyone is still looking for a room perhaps we can coordinate getting that 2nd reservation transferred. I will hold off on canceling for now given there seems to be a room shortage. |

Well....
sounds like the Durango Downtown Inn may be about to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) us dry. Called this morning to see if I could transfer a reservation to another member and was told that they couldn't because not only can new reservations not be made but all existing reservations are going to be invalidated for dorm use during that time. Hoping the girl I talked to was mistaken, but i guess better to find this out now than after driving 400 miles into the mountains of Colorado in a 50 year old car. @SharonG may want to call and verify this. |

Girl I talked to recommended the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn which looks nice but is going up in price and looks like there are a lot of other options as well. Let me know what the new plan is and i will re-book. EDIT: Just made backup reservations at the Hampton Inn, just in case until we know what is going on. |

What's wrong with Ouray instead. Surely they've forgotten about that little "furniture in the parking lot" incident by now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

EDIT: Just made backup reservations at the Hampton Inn, just in case until we know what is going on. Great choice (The Hampton) but not close to downtown. The owner is Porsche guy - has a GT3 Cup Car and used to campaign in the GT4 Clubsport series (came in 2nd in the Western region). Eric Shea sees him at Miller Motorsports track (or whatever it is called now) where he is an instructor. There is a trolley stop right at The Hampton for a ride into town. |
