Two weeks ago, I shot about 900 photos at Automobile Atlanta for the 914 Authenticity book update. I started layout last week and have completed the chassis chapter. I still need some interior and mechanical item shots -- like brakes.
I really need beauty shots of most models. Highest priority 1970-1972 painted bumper models and all Euro spec. cars. If you are interested in how it looks I can send you a page PDF -- they are too big to post. Feel free to contact me directly for details: 356drb@indy.net I hope to have it to the printer no later than the first of August. |

I have an early 1970 914/4, January 1970 production date. I bought this car in Jan 76 at Bob Miller Porsche + Audi here in Austin when I worked in the dealer service dept. The early cars had many features that were changed fairly quickly, and many more changes by '73. Hope you can document the cars to that detail. My car is still mostly as it came from the factory, including original engine and transmission. I did make a few changes over the years, mainly because I did not then realize the differences. Recently been returning to more original parts, for example, threw out the Ansa exhaust and returned to stock setup with proper early valance. Would appreciate seeing a page! Cheers, Mark |

This is my detailed photo list as of today 7/1/20. I am just starting the layout of the interior chapter. Let know if you can help. Thanks! 356drb@indy.net
Photos needed 7/1/20 All photos: Prefer no non-authentic features visible, but see below about making photos fit the space Landscape orientation (wider than high) with wide margins preferred – exception door jambs/lock posts Please use wide margins. With high resolution images with good focus and depth of field wide margins allow me to make the photo fit the available space. When too close or incorrectly oriented, it makes it much more difficult to make images useable. If you are sending more than two or three images, please send me (356drb@indy.net) a download link via (free) WeTransfer.com Chapter 1 – The Models Beauty shots, all models Chapter 2 – Chassis Rear chassis strengthening plates, GT and 916 – on car Chapter 3 – Body Painted front bumper 1970-1972 Chapter 4 – Exterior Trim Right side painted grille showing no horn Front Hella lights: H-3 driving light, yellow; H-3 fog light white and yellow; H-1 driving light white Front Bosch lights: driving light white and yellow; fog light yellow Convex side mirror French taillight with yellow back-up light (one coming maybe) Rear fog light (in same photo above) Early (gold) European rear script for 914-4 1.7 script Mud flaps Steel wheel with VW hub cap Group shot of lug bolts and nuts 8” Fuchs wheel (GT) Chapter 5 – Luggage Compartments Sticker on gas tank 1975-1976 2.0 Chapter 6 – Interior Dashboard top from right side 1970-1971 showing center vent Left instrument 1973-1974 with both temp and fuel scales Speedometer 914-4 200 kph Speedometer 1973 2.0 Temperature gauge in console 1973 with small red band Switch cluster left side 1970-1971 European Switch cluster right side 1970-1971 with rear window defogger Headlight washer switch 1974-1976 Front hood release handle Steering column decals left side 914-6 Turn signal lever 1970-1971 914-4 Visors, showing mounts 1972-1973 Visors, showing mounts 1974-1976 Right side visor showing mirror Rear view mirror, 1972-1976 Hand throttle knob 1972 – not the round one Center “seat” removed, upside down Hinged box on tunnel -- cars with console 1973-1976 Early door handle (photo requested) Chapter 7 – Engine I’m not that far yet! |

Last call!!! The book will go to the printer in around 2 weeks. I am still interested in all years, all models for beauty shots that go in the front of the book. I want to use real cars, not factory photos. Cars must be period accurate. Contact me directly at: 356drb@indy.net
