Hey, i was wondering if there were any after-market parts to stiffen the chassis or is my best bet to go to a fab shop? thanks.

yes, there are several excellent chassis strenghtening / stiffening / reinforcement parts available; check the resourcs section. in particular, there are kits for the inner and outer longitudinals that really help a lot.
but your front or rear trunk would be used only to transport the parts. you can stiffen the trunks all you like but it will make no difference - the chassis does not flex there. the only significant flex is in the cabin area. |

911's. you don't need one in the front (unless you have a GT with a 100-liter tank, in which case your car should have come with one...). the tank bulkhead provides all the stiffness you'll need until you go to coilovers, at which time you'll need way more than a strut brace. you don't need one in the back because the strut mounts are not kinematic points. they're just a place the springs and dampers work against. 911's really need some triangulation, but for 914's they're just expensive froo-froo. |
