Hi guys,

Thought I would share a little video as a follow up to my first post here regarding help to identify the engine in this 73 914.

Almost a 5 hour return trip to go see the car but I thought it would be educational for me so I don’t consider it time wasted. Good to see these cars up close and personal finally.

Here it is!

Great video! The car certainly could be restored but based on the condition in the video it likely would not be worth the money you would need to put into it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) Great parts car in my eyes.

wow, if you take on this as a project you have something to do for a long period. Before it looks like that ready-to-build shell in your garage...it will take a lot of time, energy, money and frustration ! But maybe this is something to get rid of stress for you, who knows ? (although you do not appear to be stressed in the video (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
I think there are better starting points out there !

As they say...everything is repairable. The question would be "at what cost/time"?

The right rear suspension console and engine mount console are in very, very bad shape indicating the right longitudinal requires replacement. (I would also suspect the right side inner/outer firewalls would be in similar shape.)

The good news...replacement panels are available.

Restoration Design is right in your backyard...you might want to talk to them about your plans before you jump in with both feet.

My concern would be that the starting point of this project would require a body frame/jig to ensure correct geometry (during &) after repairs are completed...with the visible "sag" it would be hard to get a good reference with jackstands to start this repair.

My $0.02

Good luck!
