I was fortunate to see them in person at Nuremberg Ring in 1970 and 1971. Really badass on the straight away in front of the grandstand.

I was fortunate to see them in person at Nuremberg Ring in 1970 and 1971. Really badass on the straight away in front of the grandstand. I saw Mark Donahue at Mosport with the Penske L&M CanAm 917. He didn't win the final due to mechanical issues (still got 2nd IIRC) but he was the fastest on the track...wickedly fast. |

Race cars all have brake lights and running lights for things like Lemans ^ Correct. We did a deep dive into Porsche race car taillights, from 904~ through 962~, in 000. I learned a bunch of arcane stuff, as I don't think they had ever been examined or documented. Great article in latest 000 Magazine (#13) about Atwood. Eric did a great job with that piece, and there's a little something on 917-015/035 you might dig in the next issue… |
