Headed out at 5:15 and was home just before 1:00. Just over 1350 miles and the car did great. It was nice seeing everyone again and doing some great driving. See everyone next time!

And a HUGE thank you to all those who braved the wet, rainy weather to attend. Get those 914s dried out so you can bring them back next year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) steve (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) I moved Elwood outside, opened him up and took out all the carpet today. I also hung the umbrella cover on the fence. The warm weather and the wind dried everything up quickly. Thanks again Steve for putting this one together. We really needed it. A few more pictures...
A fun group of people! Nice scenery along the way! Beautiful area and time of year for a 914 drive. It happens to all of us... even Steve! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Thanks to Clay and others for keeping all of our cars running by any means! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) |

uploaded my pics to my 914 album (scroll down to get to them):
https://pantherfanz.smugmug.com/Family/n-4k...74-Porsche-914/ Engine quit exactly halfway between home and TN. Had to get the car towed to Eurotechnik in Hendersonville NC. Thought it was the fuel pump. A VW mechanic who stopped to help also did (checked pressure at the sensor and said it was too low). Prettiest NC state trooper made sure I was OK. A teenerpaluza guy stopped as well to check on me. Finally got it towed, had to leave it with a shop I knew nothing about with the key in a key drop since it was Saturday. Rented a car to get home. Monday diagnosis showed I was wrong. The coil went bad. It was an original '74 part. Don't want to talk about the price the situation put me in. It's back home and now I get to deal with the damaged back end. I had a fantastic time with you all despite the home trip and look forward to the next event. Thanks to Bill and John for their phone support and encouragement! |

Just no picture evidence... probably jack stand award worthy at a normal event. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

Driving Tennessee 32.
This road is beautiful. Lots of turns, one side is a national forest, and the other is mostly a steep dropoff. And the best part is at the state line, it turns into a gravel road, so no traffic to speak of!. It is a slow drive because of the rain. We didn't want to risk sliding off the road.

A very long package just showed up on my porch.
They are fantastic! Thanks to Doug (DLEE6204) for providing the rocker panels, and thanks to everyone who sponsored the event. |
