Mine had one originally so IIRC one hooks on the side and goes over the top to hook on the other side. I backdated using the post and used the knurled nut after it broke one day.

I thought it was the just the smaller band. The photo I saw had the band wrapped around the two small dents on the top edges of the cover.

My 75 didn’t have one either. Maybe they ran out of knurled nuts in 76 and used rubber bands instead...
