There is a car posted on EBAY listed as a 914 Chalon that is actually a 914-6. I stopped down to Retro Automotive and Matt told me about a 914-6 that he had recovered out of the Mojave with a seized 3.2. It is for sale in Claremont, NH without motor or trans on EBay. I saw it and it appears to be straight, has a good hell hole, has 914-6 S/n in all of the usual spots, and with 4 proper fenders, could be brought back. Please save it!

I have one. Don’t need two at this time of my life

Hello 914World, I just joined, this is my first post and I am just trying to understand the market and effort required to restore a 914. My preference would be a 914-6. The Chalon roller on ebay ended at $10,400 without meeting the reserve. No title, no engine, low chance of finding the matching engine and you still need to Undo the Chalon parts, given that what's reasonable for the car in this condition? $12k? $15k? I haven't tried to contact Matt and wanted to hear from the forum first.

thanks for your time, stay safe
Paul

Hi Paul-
I’m a newbie as well.
I recently purchased a ‘71 914 2.0 with the idea of converting it to a 6. Rust free, strong engine, Webers, etc. After buying a 911 turboS and a mint 73 914 2.0, I’ve decided that a conversion just doesnt make sense. If you’re looking for a car you can drive and enjoy now and upgrade/restore at your leisure, this might be a fit. I’m in SC.
Send me a pm if you’re interested.
Thanks
Phil C

The Chalon sold for $17k with a 901 gearbox. Did someone from the forum buy it?
