Seems like a smart buy for someone who isn't wrapped up in a 914-6 concours car and just wants a great 914-6 to drive and enjoy.
If it doesn't need structural repairs, it's already miles and miles ahead of a lot of 914s that do, and this one is an idea candidate for a 914-6 GT build if you've got to put four fenders on it anyway. Color change, at this point? Who cares, but Signal Orange is cool. And I'd way rather work with a good rub that needs four fenders than anything that needs "inner fenders" (and more…). While the Chalon kit is creaking in a dumpster, it's perfect time to address chassis stiffening, too. A dead and/or rusty but straight and complete early 914-4 would make a great donor for parts, and those cars are out there. |
