If I were looking for another project, this one would have been my dream. Ambitious project at the right price. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

If it is actually solid structurally..
I can’t see it being a bad starting point..
Don’t need all the corners from the same donor car..
Acquire parts patiently and have a factory 6 .
Maybe not numbers matching...
But a solid car...
I’ve seen much worse made into a stellar car
after much rust and collision damage repair...

the problem is finding new quarters and fenders. Just not available. THEN if one finds a donor car with four good ones, usually the car is worth saving and not cutting up for parts

When I was doing my 914/6 I found a very decent body within a couple of hours drive for $500, not worth saving on it's own, but gave up a lot of good metal.

Next step, rebuild the rest of the car around the VIN.

That is an incorrect statement!
That car only needs quarter panels and fenders, not even close to building a car around a VIN.

I'm a 914/6 lover and previously posted that I wish I could be the one to save it.

However, It needs far more than quarter panels before it will be in the hunt for that $100k 914/6 pricetag. Even with all the work, the final value will be highly dependent on the quality of the restoration and underlying workmanship.

As the Doc stated, it's not quite as simple as lifting some panels off a ratted out /4 and returning it to stock.

I do agree it's not as bad as the other flamed out wreck that has been offered in the past and is a good value to someone, especially if they can do the metalwork, paint, engine, trans, and electrical all in their own shop. Someday I'll wish it had been the right time for me to step up. Unfortunately my hands and garage are already busy with trying to save a /4 that should have been scrapped.

Stay tuned and I will show you how it is done (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) with Glenn body shops change panels all the time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/assimilate.gif)

What’s the color code on this one? I’m now thinking of geyser gray

Per Dave - It's off a 1957 356, it's called Stein Grau ( stone grey). It looks green in low light and brownish in direct light. Here's a better pic of the color.

I’ve seen it in person a number of times - stunning.
