I'm struggling to get some races in this year on the "real" racing (Super Touring Civic) to qualify for the SCCA Runoffs.
The historics/vintage 914 has been sitting in my enclosed trailer since October. Given the unknowns on the Lime Rock and Watkins Glen events, I decided to delay building an engine for it to replace the one I borrowed last year. We did purchase an ex-Modified autocrosser 914, with a Raby 2.3L /4 in it. Killer deal, couldn't resist it. I'll use that capital as an excuse on why I didn't build another engine (the real answer is: lazy. And beer). Anyone else getting any 914 time in this year? Attached thumbnail(s) |

I raced this past weekend with Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing at their big charity event for the Morgan Adams Foundation, the Race Against Kid's Cancer. Except for the social distancing requirements, and the fact that I came in on the tow rope three times out of five because of ignition coil wiring and mounting issues, it was great to be back out on the track. '72 Chalon bodied car with a 2.0 liter four with dual Wbers and a lightened flywheel. First outing for the 2.0 liter so some minor teething problems. Ran a bone stock 1.8 liter L-Jet prior to this and it was dead reliable, but sort of on the slow side, especially at 5,000 foot elevation. The 2.0 liter is noticably faster and has more torque. No more races until September or October. But the local tracks are open now and I definitely need more seat time, as we all do.
