Ian has the great video that might help you.

My old lower bushing is 20.5mm thick. If that helps. If you are missing the washer on top of the spring cup I could see how the bushing would quickly deform around the spring cup. It seems that on some of them the washer was welded to the cup, I could be wrong.

Nope that 4 MM does nothing for the spacing of the two rubber pieces. It just moves the shock shaft up 4mm in the collar #5. It is the part that supports #4 and #3. The issue becomes when you do not have enough threads on the shock shaft. Which is not being shown on the original image.

#8 - bump stop is nice to be up top, but Koni / Bilstein is just a rubber sleeve. Just a generic part used across the entire line.

Repaet you are dealing with only #4, and #5. Because #5 can only be shortened, you issue must be #4!

Here is is on 914Rubber site.

Hi 914forme,

I'm going to replace the old Boges with Bilsteins so i've been doing a little research and found this thread from a couple months ago.

Are you saying the Bump Stops aren't needed if the new shocks are Konis or Bilsteins?

BTW, my old Bump Stops have disintegrated, that's why I'm asking. I was just about to source some, but if I don't need to.............

Just did new Bilsteins on Matt Carey's 26k barn find.
Bump stops in the rear were in a pile of fragments at the bottom of the spring.
Front bumps are in good shape. But no go on Bilsteins.

Thanks Cary. Mine were Fragments also. Good to know I don't need to source any!

Once again thank you for your help.
