I am old. I care for a wife with late stage dementia and Parkinson's. My beloved 914 has been parked for 14 years (dry storage). In about 10 days it will be presented here first. Price will be around 15K. Details to follow after I get the wife into memory care. Just thought I'd warn you guys first.

Pat - It's your car to do what you want but I would talk to someone you trust about pricing. I have a feeling you are way low. I was expecting you to say $30-40K.

$15K get's you a decent driver these days but not a show car.

Regardless, all the best. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Pat, so sorry to hear about your wife.

As said by others already, I was also surprised to see the $15k. I don't know your car and I only know you from your posts, but from those alone I'd bet your car is worth at least twice that amount.

Best of luck with everything.

First Pat, my hat's off to you. Being a caregiver is one of the hardest things I've ever been through, and I was young and it didn't last long. I wish you all the strength and God's grace. Regarding the teener, prices are going off the charts, like someone said, just a nice driver is in the mid teens. If you have something more, check the websites like Bring a trailer and see what they've been bringing.

God Speed . . . .

Pat, great to see your post, sad to hear of your wife’s condition.

When it comes to Fritz and any peripheral things you need to move on, I am sure you will provide all the details, being the detailed guy you are.

Hopefully someone nearby can assist if you have needs at this difficult time. Let us know your needs so we can return the generosity you’ve given to us over the years.

Pat I am saddened to hear about your wife as I know what that entails. God bless you for being there for her.

I agree with the others that your 914 should be selling for $25K at least. I miss you on this site- you always had great feedback and thoughts and you helped me steer my car to what it now is. God bless and GLWTS. Michael

I agree with what has been said above. Although we all love a bargain, I'm sure you could use the money to help care for your wife. The bottom feeders/flippers are probably already sending you PM's. Ignore them.

Please, please, please look at BaT and other venues. Now IS the time to sell a super nice 914. They are bringing strong money

I'm going to add to the consensus and say there's no point in short selling a rare, original car, unless you are selling to a close friend or family member.

If the car needs attention to get it roadworthy, it'll be worth it to get it done, or possibly sell on consignment to someone who can do the work and fetch top dollar for you.

So sorry for your situation Pat. Prayers for you and your family.

Although I never have had the privilege to meet you Pat I appreciate all of your advice and contributions to 914world. I concur with others in that your 914 is probably in the 30-40K range. I will be keeping you and your wife in my prayers...

Hi Pat - I can attest to have been in only a remotely similar situation to yours but don't do anything in haste now that you might regret later. It's completely understandable to just throw up your hands in frustration but there are plenty of people here to help. Stay positive!

Mark

Thanks for helping Pat determine the true selling value of his 914.

My heart goes out to Pat during these moments of stress taking care of the wife.

Pat has always been a true 914 friend. You & your wife are in my prayers.

Wow! Thanks Mark

I’m also pretty good at pricing parts. As I understand from your previous posts, you have a pretty good collection. You might be shocked at current prices. Again, I’m only offering to help, not a buyer in this situation and will keep anything you tell me confidential. I just always admired your long term ownership and devotion to our cars.

I met Pat and Jan in February 1976 at a PCA event at a Porsche+Audi dealer in Dayton. His friendship, support and unwavering commitment to the 914 model has never diminished over the years that I've known him. He has helped me immeasurably over the 40+ years in maintaining and setting an example for taking care of our 914s. Whoever ends up purchasing his car, aside from "waking it up", will certainly be getting an excellent example of an original 914.

Pat and Jan, my wife and I have vacationed together in the Smokey Mtns, Banner Elk N.C., Hilton Head and Natural Bridge Ky. We four have also been to four PCA Parades, Aspen, Reston, Ashville and of course Cincinnati. I have seen Pats' 914 win countless concours awards over the years and not only at PCA events.

If ever a 914 should be bought back by Porsche and properly be retired.

It’s the people.
